Interview with investment advisor Stephanie Teser

Client consultations are at the heart of an investment advisor's work. In the following interview, Stephanie Teser from Raiffeisenlandesbank NÖ-Wien explains what matters most in this role and which skills are essential for success.

Ms Teser, you are an investment advisor at Raiffeisenlandesbank NÖ-Wien. What are the responsibilities of a client advisor? What does the role involve?

Teser: The primary responsibility is to discuss clients' financial goals and aspirations with them and identify realistic ways to achieve them. Ultimately, the aim is to be a trusted financial partner throughout the different stages of a client's life.

Proactive client support is particularly important when it comes to investments. Depending on individual needs, this means contacting clients at least once a year, and often more frequently, for a detailed consultation to ensure they always have a clear understanding of how their investments are performing.

Especially during challenging market conditions, it is important to be available to clients, proactively reach out to them and answer their questions openly and honestly.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

Teser: My working day naturally revolves around client consultations. Most meetings take place in person at the branch, although clients also contact me by phone and email with their questions and requests.

Thorough preparation and follow-up are essential for every client meeting. My daily routine also includes reading market analyses and keeping up to date with economic and political news as well as current events. This helps me understand what is happening in the markets and assess the potential impact on clients’ investments.

What qualifications and skills do you need to work as an investment advisor?

Teser: The most important requirement is a genuine interest in securities and the different investment options available. You should be open-minded, approachable and enjoy interacting with clients every day. You also need to enjoy working with them to develop and implement investment solutions tailored to their individual needs.

Are there any specific requirements that applicants should meet?

Teser: A strong interest in economics, politics and current affairs is essential. You also need to understand complex relationships and be able to explain them to others in a clear and accessible way.

Thank you very much for the interview!
