Free float refers to the portion of a corporation’s shares that is not held by a single owner. All holdings below 4% are considered free float. In the Vienna Stock Exchange indices, the free float is reflected by weighting factors of 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50, 0.60, 0.70, 0.80, 0.90, and 1.00. The weighting factor selected is the one that just exceeds the calculated free float.
