How are securities prices determined?
On the Vienna Stock Exchange, securities are traded using three different trading methods:
- Continuous trading
Continuous trading involves the ongoing execution of orders that match in terms of price and quantity. Orders can be placed and trades concluded throughout the entire trading session. Continuous trading is supplemented by an opening and a closing auction and is sometimes also interrupted by an intraday auction. - Single intraday auction (auction trading)
In this form of trading, prices are determined only once a day as part of an auction. The price is set to maximize turnover. Orders that match in terms of price and quantity are then executed at this price. - Continuous auction
The "continuous auction" trading procedure enables orders that match in terms of price and quantity to be matched in continuous auctions. Orders can be placed and trades concluded throughout the entire trading session.
