On 18 November 2025, "20 Years of VÖNIX – pioneer of sustainability on the domestic stock market" was celebrated with an anniversary reception at the Vienna Stock Exchange. Launched in 2005 as one of the world’s first national sustainability indices, the VÖNIX represents a milestone for sustainable investing in Austria. The index comprises those listed domestic companies that are leaders in environmental and social terms and stand out for their particular commitment to corporate sustainability.
After a welcome by Vienna Stock Exchange CEO Christoph Boschan and Chairman of the VÖNIX Advisory Board and CEO of VBV Andreas Zakostelsky, the event focused on a high-level panel discussion, which featured Peter Brezinschek, independent financial market expert and former chief analyst at Raiffeisen, Reinhard Friesenbichler, managing director of rfu, Monika Köppl-Turyna, director of the EcoAustria Institute for Economic Research, and Helga Kromp-Kolb, professor emeritus at the Institute of Meteorology and Climatology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
