The Vienna Stock Exchange recorded an equity trading volume of EUR 8.55 billion in February 2026. This represents a significant increase of 38.4% compared to the previous year (February 2025: EUR 6.17 billion) and marks the month with the third-highest equity turnover in the past 15 years. Higher monthly turnover was last achieved in March 2020 (beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic) and March 2022 (start of the war in Ukraine).
Year-to-date equity turnover in Vienna – generated by domestic and international trading members – amounted to EUR 15.35 billion. Compared to the same period last year, this is a plus of 43.9% (January-February 2025: EUR 10.67 billion).
The most actively traded Austrian stocks in the past month of January were BAWAG Group AG with EUR 1.9 billion, ahead of Erste Group Bank AG with EUR 1.5 billion and voestalpine AG with EUR 822 million.
