Vienna Stock Exchange Award 2025: Erste Group shines with double win in ATX and Media Relations categories

  • Flughafen Wien AG honoured in two categories
  • Mid Cap Award goes to PORR AG

Wiener Börse Preis 2025

(Vienna) The Vienna Stock Exchange Award, the most important award in the Austrian capital market, was presented for the 18th time this evening. Eleven leading Austrian companies were honoured with a total of 13 awards at the event held in the elegant setting of Palais Niederösterreich. The selection was made by renowned juries consisting of experts from ÖVFA (ATX, Mid Cap and Corporate Bond Awards), the VÖNIX Advisory Board (Sustainability Awards) and leading business journalists (Media Relations Awards). The event was once again certified as "ÖkoEvent" by the City of Vienna, underscoring its commitment to environmentally responsible event practices.

"Listed companies are constantly in the spotlight – the Vienna Stock Exchange Award recognises those that outshine even in this already bright arena. Austrian equities impress with reliable dividend yields and deep integration in one of Europe’s most dynamic growth regions. This combination of resilience and potential makes them a stronghold in international portfolios," says Christoph Boschan, CEO of the Vienna Stock Exchange.

Erste Group ahead of DO & CO and BAWAG Group in ATX category

Erste Group Bank AG received two awards this year. The heavyweight in the Austrian leading index repeated its success from the previous year and was once again crowned with the prestigious ATX Award. The ÖFVA jury's decision was based on another record result in 2024, a balanced business portfolio, financial reporting, performance and liquidity. DO & CO AG came in second place behind Erste Group Bank AG, followed by BAWAG Group AG. Furthermore, Erste Group remains the benchmark for excellence in media relations. Fast response times, professionally prepared materials and the regular publication of studies on current economic and financial topics were key factors in the jury’s decision to award the top ranking in this category. Flughafen Wien AG took second place, while VERBUND AG, as in the previous year, ranked third.

"Erste Group's top rankings in the ATX and Media Relations Awards are a valuable confirmation of a successful year 2024. We were able to further expand our leading position in the CEE region, delivered a strong operational and strategic performance and further strengthened investor trust. Our success story is closely linked to our IPO over 25 years ago and the financing opportunities we have utilised via the capital market since then ", says Erste Group CFO Stefan Dörfler.

Stock exchange veteran PORR wins for the first time, OMV takes Corporate Bond Award

PORR AG took the top spot in the Mid Cap category. It was the first top ranking for the construction company, which has been listed in Vienna since 1869 – making it the oldest continuously listed company. In addition to qualitative criteria – such as financial reporting, investor relations and strategy – PORR AG also impressed the jury with its strong stock performance. In 2024, the price increased by almost 40%, placing it among the top 5 performers in the ATX Prime. Addiko Bank AG was the runner-up, followed by Flughafen Wien AG, which took two awards. In the corporate bond category, OMV AG won for the ninth time in the history of the Vienna Stock Exchange Award.

BKS Bank, Telekom Austria and Lenzing honoured for sustainability

As part of the Vienna Stock Exchange Awards, the VÖNIX Sustainability Awards were also presented. Named after the Austrian sustainability benchmark – the VBV Austrian Sustainability Index (VÖNIX) – these awards recognize excellence in sustainable corporate practices. Lenzing AG is an "evergreen" in the truest sense of the word when it comes to this award: The Upper Austrian fibre manufacturer was honoured in the "Industrials" category – and thus for the seventh time in a total of nine sustainability award ceremonies. As in the previous year, Telekom Austria AG came out on top in the "Consumer" sector, while BKS Bank AG impressed in the "Financials" sector. The VÖNIX itself has reason to celebrate: Austria’s sustainability index marks its 20th anniversary this year. First launched in 2005, VÖNIX was among the world’s pioneering national sustainability benchmarks.
