The ATX gains + 7% on average per year.
27 years ago, on 2 January 1991, the Austrian Traded Index (ATX) became operational as the new key index of the Vienna Stock Exchange with seventeen companies at 1,000 points. Today, the index contains the shares of the twenty largest, listed Austrian companies and at year-end stood at 3,420.14. This corresponds with 27-year performance of 242% and an average yearly gain of 4.7%. Moreover, if one takes into account the dividend payments, which in reality communicate a more accurate picture of total returns, an approximate, average yearly gain of as much as 7% results.
