For the Vienna Stock Exchange, sustainability means assuming responsibility for economic, social and ecological areas. We incorporate environmentally oriented and socio-cultural values into our corporate management and embed these values in our processes.
Sustainability and economy go hand in hand
The Vienna Stock Exchange is oriented towards the sustainable development of the Austrian financial centre. Transparency and security are the cornerstones of trading on a stock exchange. While investors and listed companies rely on this, financial institutions also depend on the high level of transparency within the calculation of our indices when designing their products. At the Vienna Stock Exchange we are proud of our history in setting standards in this field. You can discover more about the absolute importance of transparency when it comes to index calculation in this video "Our index know-how".
The Vienna Stock Exchange has more than 25 years of experience in electronic trading infrastructure. Our strengths include state-of-the-art IT knowledge and the provision of professional customer services. IT security and cyber security remain our highest priority, which allows us to guarantee a smooth process to our partner exchanges, as well as over 150 trading members and 1,800 exchange traders connected to our systems across Europe, a smooth process. Today, the integration of environmental and social criteria is indispensable for companies and investors, and thereby for corporate success. The annual Wiener Börse Award honours the awareness of sustainability, social commitment and transparent and honest corporate communications of listed companies.
Our employees are at the centre of achieving our corporate goals. Regular cultural and sporting activities, as well as voluntary social benefits, enhance the working atmosphere. Our employees are also offered a wide range of further training opportunities. The Vienna Stock Exchange views diversity among employees as a success factor and treats all employees equally, irrespective of origin or religion.
Responsible use of resources is a matter of course at the Vienna Stock Exchange. Many of our employees are enthusiastic cyclists, whilst the downtown location of our offices makes it easy for both employees and customers to reach us by public transport. The Vienna Stock Exchange sponsors a Grätzlrad, a cargo bike that can be borrowed free of charge at any time.
Corporate Social Responsibility
With more than 350 seminars and further training opportunities offered every year, the Vienna Stock Exchange makes a significant contribution to spreading knowledge concerning investment. Education is the best protection for investors: good financial education enables investors to take advantage of yield opportunities and protect themselves sufficiently. In addition to our seminars, we provide a wide range of information on our website. Our stock market radio and the Austrian Stock Talk also provide information on the subject of investments and on the companies listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange.
At the annual Wiener Börse Punsch event we support the START project, a scholarship program for committed pupils with a migration background. The entire proceeds of the event are made available to the non-profit organization. In addition, the Vienna Stock Exchange has repeatedly taken on sponsorships and thus supports young people in obtaining a higher educational qualification.
