> Buy stocks as of mid 2009
- Deutsche Bank experts recommend investing again more in
stocks as of mid-year. Until then, the massive interest rate cuts by the central
banks should have taken effect according to Georg Schuh, Managing Director of DB
Advisors, the institutional asset management division of Deutsche Bank. The
stock markets will probably also fluctuate again massively this year, but the
economic downswing is partly the normalization from the previous phase of
overheating and not the start of a longer lasting depression. (APA, Reuters, 21
Jan 2009)
> RCB: Recovery expected on Vienna Stock Exchange – Birgit Kuras,
Chief Analyst at Raiffeisen Centrobank (RCB), expects the ATX to reach 1,550
points by the end of the first quarter: "Once European corporations have
adjusted their forecasts to realistic levels, the Austrian stock market could
gain again," said a firmly convinced Ms. Kuras. A substantial revival is
expected for the second half of the year; the ATX is expected to settle at 2,200
points by year-end after a volatile course. (APA, 15 Jan 2009)
> Obama wants to establish new rules for financial markets in two months
– US President Barack Obama believes that an important move for finding a way
out of the current crisis is to regulate the financial markets. Another measure
is the economic stimulus program that he plans to pass through Congress by
mid-February. Obama wants to close the numerous gaps in financial market
supervision by the G20 summit on 2 April in London. At the top of the list are
stringent controls on hedge funds, mortgage brokers and rating agencies. (Salzburger
Nachrichten, 26 Jan 2009)
